VJVirtual | The role of the National Lung Cancer Audit in lung cancer care in the UK

Neal Navani • 3 Nov 2022

Neal Navani, MA, MRCP, MSc, PhD, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK, explains the background of the National Lung Cancer Audit (NLCA) and talks on its current role in lung cancer care in the UK. The aim of the NLCA is to collect comprehensive data on every lung cancer patient in the country and has so far resulted in significant improvements in patient outcomes and clinical care. Dr Navani suggests that in the future, the NLCA could work towards the use of more real-time data and create dashboards for NHS trusts to use to implement local quality improvement measures, as well as broadening the remit of the number of metrics collected by the NLCA.
