Juan Manuel O’Connor, MD, MSc, Instituto Alexander Fleming, Buenos Aires, Argentina, provides insights into the role of immuno-oncology in treating microsatellite-stable (MSS) colorectal cancer (CRC). There is significant research currently focused on characterizing the microbiome in patients with MSS CRC, as well as recent data on the promising efficacies of botensilimab and balstilimab. For non-MSS CRC, it is believed to be that understanding the role of immunotherapy in treating proficient tumors is critical in the future. This interview took place at 2024 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer Annual Congress in Munich, Germany.
