ESMO 2024 | ERICA: olanzapine to manage T-DXd-related nausea & vomiting in patients with breast cancer

Hitomi Sakai, MD, Showa University, Shina-gawa-ku, Tokyo, presented findings from the Phase II ERICA trial (WJOG14320B) of olanzapine for preventing nausea and vomiting in patients receiving trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd) for metastatic breast cancer. The study showed that olanzapine significantly improved complete response (CR) rates in the delayed phase compared to placebo. Olanzapine also reduced nausea rates and days with nausea, and decreased appetite loss. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
