ELCC 2025 | Predictors of MTB non-adherence in stage III NSCLC

Markus Joerger, MD, PhD, Kantonsspital St. Gallen, St. Gallen, Switzerland, discusses findings from a multi-centre analysis investigating predictors of adherence to multidisciplinary tumour board (MTB) recommendations in patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Drawing on data from over 500 patients, nearly one-third were unable to follow initial MTB recommendations—most commonly due to treatment de-escalation, such as an inability to undergo curative radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy. Advanced tumour stage and patient frailty were identified as key predictors of non-adherence, underscoring the need for careful treatment planning in patients with poor performance status or more advanced stage III disease. This interview took place at the European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC) 2025 in Paris, France.
