WCLC 2026 | Chemoimmunotherapy improves survival in PD-L1 1–49% NSCLC
Alessandro Di Federico, MD, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, comments on the results of a reconstructed individual patient data meta-analysis comparing the efficacy of chemoimmunotherapy, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with PD-L1 1-49% expression. The study found chemoimmunotherapy to be associated with prolonged progression-free survival and overall survival compared to PD-1 inhibitor or PD-L1 inhibitor monotherapy and chemotherapy, with a nearly doubled five-year overall survival rate. This interview took place at the IASLC 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
