ASCO 2024 | Efficacy of trastuzumab deruxtecan in HER2-low metastatic breast cancer

Kevin Kalinsky, MD, MS, Winship Cancer Institute, Atlanta, GA, gives insights into the results of the DESTINY-Breast06 study (NCT04494425), which assessed trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd) in patients with hormone receptor-positive (ER+ and/or PR+) metastatic breast cancer. The findings indicated that patients with HER2-low metastatic breast cancer receiving T-DXd experienced similar benefits to those receiving chemotherapy-based treatments. Consequently, T-DXd should be considered a viable treatment option for these patients, especially when they develop resistance to endocrine therapy. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
