ELCC 2025 | Current unanswered questions in segmentectomy for lung cancer

Rene Petersen, MD, PhD, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark, highlights the growing interest in segmentectomy following the publication of the JCOG0802 and CALGB 140503 (NCT00499330) trials, which demonstrated comparable survival rates to lobectomy for early-stage lung cancer. However, despite the increased adoption of segmentectomy, there are still significant knowledge gaps that need to be addressed. This interview took place at the European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC) 2025 in Paris, France.
