ESSO 44 | Biological mesh in abdominal wall reconstruction during cytoreductive surgery: outcomes & advantages

Marc Pocard, MD, PhD, Hospital Lariboisière Department of Visceral Cancer and Endocrine Surgery, Paris, France, discusses the outcomes of using biological mesh for abdominal wall reconstruction during cytoreductive surgery in patients with carcinomatosis. Prof. Pocard highlights that the use of biological mesh allows for a simpler and less time-consuming surgical procedure, with minimal complications, and notes that the mesh progressively disappears over time, typically within two years, without causing significant symptoms or issues for the patient. This interview took place at the 44th Congress of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO 44) in Gothenburg, Sweden.
