David Baldwin, MD, FRCP, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, Nottingham, UK, discusses the impact of covid on lung cancer and how the effects can be mitigated. During the COVID-19 pandemic, early diagnosis was delayed. The necessary precautions during the pandemic were to stay at home, particularly when experiencing a cough. As a result, there was a 30% reduction in people diagnosed with lung cancer, leading to a reduction in survival. Efforts our now in progress to increase screening and awareness in regard to early presentation and diagnosis to mitigate the effect of COVID-19 on lung cancer. This interview took place at the IASLC 2022 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Vienna, Austria.
