ASCO 2024 | Overview of therapeutic targets of interest in the treatment of mesothelioma

Dean Fennell, FRCP, PhD, University of Leicester, Leicester, UK, discusses some therapeutic targets of interest in the treatment of mesothelioma. An ongoing trial is using TEAD inhibitors to target the transcriptional oncogenic TEAD pathway, often activated in response to inhibitory mutations of the NF2 pathway. This showed promise with some responding patients. In an upcoming clinical trial, Prof. Fennell is also aiming to target MDM2 in 9p21 mutated mesothelioma. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
