In this latest episode of the VJOncoAlert Journal Club, Misty Shields, MD, PhD, Indiana University Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, Indianapolis, IN, discusses key advances in the treatment of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) in 2024. She highlights the groundbreaking results from the ADRIATIC trial, which demonstrated a significant survival benefit with consolidative durvalumab following concurrent chemoradiation in limited-stage SCLC, establishing a new standard of care. Dr Shields also explores novel therapeutic strategies, including the DLL3-targeting bispecific T-cell engager tarlatamab, antibody-drug conjugates targeting SC6, B7-H3, and TROP2, and promising results from the LUNAR study evaluating lurbinectedin plus immunotherapy in extensive-stage disease. Additionally, she discusses the upcoming SWOG PRISM trial, a biomarker-driven study aiming to personalize therapy based on SCLC subtypes and Schlafen 11 status.
