ELCC 2025 | Evaluating the feasibility of segmentectomy in clinical stage IA3 NSCLC

Rene Petersen, MD, PhD, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark, comments on the potential expansion of the indication for segmentectomy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) beyond the current 2 cm guideline. Studies have found found similar survival outcomes between patients with NSCLC between 2-3 cm and those with tumors less than 2 cm, suggesting that segmentectomy may be a viable option for well-selected patients. This interview took place at the European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC) 2025 in Paris, France.
