ELCC 2025 | DUART: durvalumab after radiotherapy in stage III NSCLC

Andrea Filippi, MD, Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, Milano, Italy, presents the final analysis from the Phase II DUART trial (NCT04249362), which evaluated the use of durvalumab following radiotherapy in patients with unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who were ineligible for chemotherapy due to age, frailty, or comorbidities. The addition of durvalumab demonstrated substantial improvement in overall survival compared to historical outcomes with radiotherapy alone. The treatment was well tolerated, with a favourable safety profile and low rates of serious adverse events, including pneumonitis. Circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) clearance was also highlighted as a supportive biomarker, reinforcing the clinical potential of combining radiotherapy with immunotherapy in this challenging patient group. This interview took place at the European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC) 2025 in Paris, France.
