ELCC 2026 | Challenging the unresectable label in stage IIIB NSCLC: who might benefit from surgery?

Brendon Stiles, MD, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, NY, discusses the importance of understanding changes in staging systems, particularly for stage III lung cancer patients who may still be considered resectable. Dr Stiles highlights that certain patient groups, such as those with T3 or T4 N2 disease, are often resectable despite being classified as stage IIIB in the eighth edition staging system, which has traditionally been associated with unresectable disease. This interview took place at the 2026 European Lung Cancer Congress in Copenhagen Denmark.
