Financial distress for patients with cancer is linked to worsened physical and mental wellbeing. Fumiko Chino, MD, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, shares the findings of a cross-sectional study of adults receiving treatment for solid tumors, investigating how financial distress changes over time. Surveys of around 300 participants showed that the severity of financial distress did not correlate with treatment duration. The results suggest a potential risk for financial distress for the duration of a patient’s therapy. This interview took place during the IASLC World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) virtual meeting 2021.
