The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about rapid expansion of telemedicine use for cancer care. Fumiko Chino, MD, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, discusses a recently published study assessing patient experience with telemedicine in radiation oncology practice. Patient questionnaires from prepandemic office visits and telemedicine appointments were compared, looking at satisfaction, preference, and quality of care. Over 1000 responses were analyzed and the result showed no difference in satisfaction between in-person and telemedicine care. Dr Chino goes on to share her thoughts on whether telemedicine is here to stay in the long term. This interview took place during the IASLC World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) virtual meeting 2021.
